Two Kinds of Wisdom

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.  —  James 3:13-18 (NIV)

And, they will know we are Christians by our love…to love whole-heartedly without reservation, full of peace and absence of malice, hate and jealously. May we set our goals high and always keep reaching! May your day be blessed and may you bless someone else’s day! 😀

Do you thirst for God?

When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17 “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”   –  John 4:7-26 (NIV)

To most people the Christmas story is so very well told from Chapter 2 of Luke. I remember my father and mother reading this passage like it was yesterday but over the years the true Christmas story to me is this…the story of the resurrection and not only the birth of the Child of God.

26 “Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.  —  Acts 13:26-31 (NIV)

I say this quite a bit but I look to Easter at Christmas. At Easter, I look to Christmas. The birth of a child is not the story. The gift is the story but the gift is not complete without the resurrection. And, the resurrection means little if we do not remember the gift of love from our Heavenly Father.

Have a very Merry Christmas and may God answer all of your prayers giving comfort to you always! 😀

In the past week I have spoken to many people who do not believe that there is a God of any type. I am not accustomed to speaking with so many unbelievers and nonbelievers. My witness is my faith, my life, and my spiritual wholeness. My witness is about the miracles that have occurred beginning with the ones that brought me into the world, and then the ones that have sustained me thus far AND finally, the miracles that have happened for my children.

I believe one must truly accept to believe but people will not allow themselves to accept because they do not want to believe. To know God is to experience God. This is my belief but it is echoed in John 8 beginning with verse 42:

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” – John 8:42-47 (NIV)

This is powerful scripture. It may not make sense the first 10-100 times you read it and only will you understand it when you are ready. God’s wisdom does not come until one is ready—prepared in the heart, mind, and soul.

Back to my witness… Not everyone has a multitude of miracles to share. We each have our way of reaching others. Sometimes my witness is not about the miracles but only about the love God has for us. It varies depending on the situation and the person. I am not a pushy witness. I believe in planting seeds and allowing them to find fertile soil in which to grow and germinate. Take care and may you find your way to witness that is pleasing in God’s eyes.

Dear Most Gracious God, Heavenly Father, and Blessed Savior, I come to You with heavy heart. Your mercy is abundant and more than I will ever fully understand. I seek not understanding but peace. I seek not retribution but love. I seek not vindication but hope for a better world and brighter tomorrow. I cannot put a face on evil because it lingers everywhere and not just in the hearts of a few lost souls. I cannot ask why because I know why. You do not promise a perfect world here and now. Bad things happen to good people and it will continue until You return. You do not wish bad things on us but when they happen we need to pull closer to You and not separate ourselves from You. You are our Joy, our Longing, our Love. You sustain us when all else is dark. You give us hope when the Light seems to be hidden. Help us to reach out to each other not separating ourselves from one another, not judging, and not seeking justice. We are fallen—each one of us. We cannot judge one another and we are no better than the other for we all bear sin. Help us to seek forgiveness for our sins, our misgivings, our spiritual lacking, and for rushing to judgment. Purify our hearts, cleanse our minds, and immerse our souls in the peace that only You can give. Let us not rise above one another but seek to be equal and shoulder responsibility for all mankind. May Your Love bind us to one another and help us to live within Your shadow. I pray this in Your Holy Name,

Amen.

This prayer was written in light of the tragedy of 14 DEC 2012 and the aftermath. It was to appear in My Letter to God (morningletters.wordpress.com) but will appear across all 4 of my wordpress blogs today… I have seen injustice not only in the deaths of precious children but by adults lashing out from all angles including nasty media coverage. Love is what God is about. Please embrace this as it is meant. We all fall short of God’s glory but through HIM we are made whole—each one of us. May your day be blessed and may we all thank God each and every day for our many blessings!

I need your help if you would. I will be so grateful…

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.  —  Matthew 7 (NIV)

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”  —  Matthew 18 (NIV)

There is a certain man whom I have asked to spend 5 minutes of his day each morning and 5 minutes each night praying. In each of his prayers I have asked him to find 5 things that he sees as blessings in his life. This is an attempt to get him back to the altar of God. Now, I can ask this of him until I am blue in the face. I can’t make him do anything he doesn’t want to do. However, I know that if this man opens his heart and turns it toward God, he will be redeemed and renewed. He has to have a true heart and he has to make time for this. It is a sacrifice. It is obedience not to me but to God. Can he do it? It is up to him.

I would like to ask you to pray every morning and every night if you will that this man will do this, for his protection, and for help to overcome his demons. I ask you to pray that this man’s heart be opened up to God. He is lost. He used to know right from wrong but he has forgotten what it is like to walk with God or as close as it gets in this world. This is for this man and his family particularly his children. He used to care so deeply for others that he was willing to give others the shirt from his back.

I have seen miracles happen so I know anything can happen provided it is God’s Will. Please pray that he opens his heart before God and receives HIM and then is protected to do His Will so that God will be glorified.

Belief —  Faith  — Prayer

Repeat until answered and thanksgiving when it is.

This is nothing short of a miracle. I feel compelled to ask this. Thank you! From the bottom of my heart—thank you!

This man is my husband. I know how far he has fallen.

May you be so very blessed–always and forever! 😀

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.  — Mark 10:13-16 (NIV)

May we all become as little children so that we can, too, be close to Jesus! Let us get rid of selfish thoughts, jealousy, and pride and may we search to put Jesus in our heart!

Many blessings to you as you travel this day!
