1 Keep me safe, my God,

    for in you I take refuge.

2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

    apart from you I have no good thing.”

3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,

    “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

    I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods

    or take up their names on my lips.

5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;

    you make my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

    surely I have a delightful inheritance.

7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;

    even at night my heart instructs me.

8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.

    With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

    my body also will rest secure,

10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,

    nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

11 You make known to me the path of life;

    you will fill me with joy in your presence,

    with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Psalm 16 (NIV)

1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

– Psalm 31:1-5 (NIV)

“Into your hands I commit my spirit”…  Commitment. When we commit, promise, accept… do we fully give our all to God? Or, do we hold back? If we commit to anything, we bind ourselves to that commitment and we must honor it. Hopefully, it is to God and *OF* God. What do are you committed to? May it be OF God and FOR God but most importantly in all things it is TO God. 🙂

Have a most blessed day!

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.

Psalm 95:1-7 (NIV)

May your day be so very blessed and your soul touched with the joy for the Lord! 🙂

  • Miracles… Do you believe? Do you believe God can perform miracles?
  • Miracles… Have you experienced one? Do you know what one looks like?
  • Miracles… If you saw one, would you know?

My personal belief is that miracles happen on this earth every single day and they don’t happen just to the chosen few or people who are born into exceptional situations. I believe that God has the power to give and to take away. I believe we limit His authority when we say we believe but don’t really.

Belief in miracles is a very touchy subject. Talking about it is sometimes difficult. And, the biggest culprit of that is because we see inequality. Take for instance the tragedy that happened in Connecticut a few weeks ago. People will ask, “Why didn’t God save this little children for surely they would be the apples of God’s eyes and if there was a God he would protect them.” God doesn’t work this way. As hard and difficult it is for me to say this, sometimes bad things happen, period, but often good things will be shown and God will be glorified not because of what happened but because of the love we have for each other and the love God has for us.

Our faith cannot be put into things of this world but must be turned to God alone. I cannot have faith that I will be healed by a miracle…I put faith and belief in God. If He wants me healed completely—His Will—then I believe it will happen.  That does not mean God wants something bad to happen to me or that He will not prevent things to happen. It means that I must trust in God and only He has the ability to change things.

We ask children to believe in Santa Claus. We even stage a Santa at the malls for children to go and visit, ask for things, and pose for a photo. I don’t know what you believe but I ask you to believe in something, to be passionate about it, and to seek the true meaning. I will not engage in confrontation if I can help it and that is a stark contrast from the way I used to be. I can only give examples of my faith and you make the choice. As stated previously, I believe we were not given a choice in the garden but stole that from God. Today, we choose to either follow Him or not to follow. Simple. You don’t have to believe but I can tell you that if you make a change to God, He will make a change in you!!!

Miracles… They exist because God exists. I believe!!!

To most people the Christmas story is so very well told from Chapter 2 of Luke. I remember my father and mother reading this passage like it was yesterday but over the years the true Christmas story to me is this…the story of the resurrection and not only the birth of the Child of God.

26 “Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.  —  Acts 13:26-31 (NIV)

I say this quite a bit but I look to Easter at Christmas. At Easter, I look to Christmas. The birth of a child is not the story. The gift is the story but the gift is not complete without the resurrection. And, the resurrection means little if we do not remember the gift of love from our Heavenly Father.

Have a very Merry Christmas and may God answer all of your prayers giving comfort to you always! 😀

Is it simply coincidence that things happen in the way that they do? Do they happen truly by chance? I don’t believe so—maybe sometimes but not always. I believe there are times when God speaks to us through these things if nothing else but to let us know He is there and that we need to take notice. For me, it is further proof that I am on the right track.

I posted the previous post this past Saturday, “Great Is the Lord” with scripture taken from Psalms 96. My soul needed scripture to study, to dwell in, to quench my thirst. This scripture is what answered my need and I wanted to share it. When searching in the Bible next to the computer, I first started in a passage from Job–chapter 21. Job and I have become so close in “buddyship” that I am ready to leave him (sorry ole pal). I moved on. The next devotional was Psalms 96. Oh, what words! What a beautiful Psalm-such meaning and fervor.

Some other things have happened since Thanksgiving that have shown me God’s hand. I am trying to follow His lead as He lifts me up over the briar thickets. As I listened to the scripture being read at Sunday morning worship, what was the passage for the day? Psalms 96! Coincidence? Chance? I don’t believe that for one second! God had a message for me. My message is not the same as for others but we must do our best to discern what God is saying in order to follow HIM. This message was so great that my heart leaped for joy and if anyone knows anything about me, there has been very little joy around for all of the pain that has been caused in my family.

I don’t know what lies ahead in my life (or anyone else’s) but I know that without God so many things would have never happened. What does this really mean? To me, this means that God has enveloped me so great as my Protector. Thank you, God! You have given me everything I need. Just as I moved from the passage of Job into a new devotional of Psalms so shall my life imitate the Word. May God continue to be a bigger part of my life each and every day that I walk with Him. Please watch out for those little times in your life where God is speaking. Sometimes is it is through times of coincidence. People refer to these things by different names but I believe they are special. Please take care and love the Lord!

Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

                                                      —Psalms 96 (NIV)
